Alright. After a little over a week of contemplating what secret I was willing to share, I finally find myself ready to unveil my secret as I listen to "So Appalled" off of the new Kanye West album, one of the most controversial artist alive, and enjoy some liquid encouragement, aka the glass of E&J I'm sipping on.
Don't worry folks, I'm not an alcoholic. Although this blog entry is being posted first thing in the morning on Dec. 1, I'm writing it on the evening of Nov. 30, while the Boston Celtics game I've been recording on the DVR awaits me. (Let's go Rondo!!!) But after over a week of contemplating what my post would be for the secret to get my blog going, I'm hoping that I chose the right one.
To give a backdrop to my story, it's something I've been keeping in for a few years. Not from my friends or family, although I haven't told too many of them either, but this secret is one that I've been keeping from the person I talk to about all else. This secret is a secret that I have no idea why I've made a secret, but since keeping it to myself...I've kept it to myself.
It's a secret crush.
A crush that I've had for a few years, but have never told to the one I tell all else.
I guess the reason behind me not wanting to divulge a crush that's nothing more than a crush to the one that I should be able to tell above all others...is because he may think it's more than it actually is. You see, this crush happens to have an indirect connection to something that means more to me than most other things. The thing that I consider my greatest accomplish.
My first novel, Secrets Unveiled.
This crush happens to be someone I watched damn near everyday while writing my first novel, Secrets Unveiled. And my second novel, Secrets Unveiled II: The True Ms. Harris, coming out Spring 2011. And...let's just say beyond that. It's someone that I've watched for a few years now, ever since beginning my first draft of my debut novel, Secrets Unveiled, which was over three years ago. So, I guess that's part of the reason I've kept this crush a secret.
The reason I've kept him a secret is because he starred on one of my favorite shows of all time, HBO's The Wire, which I watched almost everyday while writing Secrets Unveiled. But it's a secret no more.
My secret crush is the one and only...Wood Harris, who played Avon Barksdale on HBO's The Wire, in addition to many other noteworthy charatcters (i.e. Ace on Paid In Full and Gooch on Next Day Air).
But...my secret crush has nothing to do with The Harris Family. I promise!!! That was purely coincidence ( ; - D ). Yet, for some reason, I still felt the need to keep it a secret.
But now...the secrets out.
And I'm glad it is.
Now, that I'm off of the hot seat, it's up for grabs!
